Today I want to bring you a very short, to the point and important blog.

There is no life without a healthy Planet.

” The environment is in us, not outside of us. The trees are our lungs, the rivers our bloodstream. We are all interconnected and what you do to the environment, ultimately you do to yourself “

Ian Somerharder

There are so many different tips I tend to share here and on my social media page: how to have a sustainable kitchen, how to have a sustainable bathroom, how to dive sustainably, how to save water and the list goes on!

But I have had a lot of people asking me what is the bigger picture. What things are needed to be done on a larger scale? Well, here they are for you!

Run the world with renewable resources & stop fosssil fuels

Planet Earths’ resources are finishing. There isn’t enough to support the life we live in todays’ society and there definitely isn’t enough when we look at the growth of the worlds’ population. Then we have fossil fuels… the 2021 IPCC report showed a CODE RED. It is “unequivocal” that human influence has warmed the atmosphere: heatwaves, fires, droughts…
C02 levels are at their highest in 2 Million Years.
Renewable resources are the way forward and society has been talking about it for way too long. The time is NOW.

Restore the oceans’ abundance by introducing no-take zones

If we restore the health of our oceans, we restore the health of our planet as well as that of our own lives.
No-take zones are areas set by governments where the extraction of any kind of resource is not allowed. Governments don’t seem to be taking this kind of action, so it is in our power, as consumers, to take the right action which will lead to the right result. That leads us to the next point…

Change our diet to be mostly plant-based

Make space for wilderness to return!
There is hope. Marine ecosystems can bounce back quickly if they are given the chance to do so. So let’s give them that chance, only we can do that!
What will you miss out on by not eating fish? You will miss out on toxic heavy metals (mercury), dioxins, and PCBs.
On top of that, the general population doesn’t see how fish is caught; it is hidden for a reason don’t you think? People only care about consumption and the consumption of unsustainable produce, leads to an increase of those unsustainable practices.

Halt deforestation & restore forests

Almost half of the world’s original forests have been degraded.
Why? Agriculture. For humans.
Destroying the environment for human purposes and needs, once again.
Successful forest restoration has huge benefits, leading to enhanced food security, improved air and water quality, climate change control and so much more!

“No one will protect what they don’t care about and no one will care about what they have never experienced”

David Attenborough

Nature is our biggest ally and our greatest inspiration.
Lets leave nature do what it has always done.
A species can only survive when everything around it survives.
We can only survive if everything around us survives

It’s not too late, to respect what we have and protect what remains. Everything starts with someone.

No-ONE can do everything. But every-ONE can do something.
